The regulations and processes required by Transport Canada’s newly established RPAS regulations which came into effect June 1, 2019 have been incorporated into this log book specifically for pilots and operators of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS).
The items contained in this logbook are not of the “nice to have” information found in most logbooks. Conducting Site Surveys, Safety Briefings, Normal and Emergency Procedures and Pre-flight checklists are all required under CARs Part lX – Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems within Visual Line of Sight (VLOS). All Pilots operating under these regulations must conduct a Site Survey (CARs 901.27), conduct Pre-Flight Requirements (CARs 901.28-29), establish Normal and Emergency Procedures (CARs 901.23) and maintain Records for the RPAS as per (CARs 901.48). The technical records section is where all maintenance “shall” be recorded as per the CARs Part lV, Part lX and the CARs
Standards 921 and 922.
This logbook distills complex procedures and note taking with simple, easy-to-understand entry pages that can be maintained by any RPAS operator, regardless of skill level or experience. The result is a flexible and powerful record that will serve as both a tool to enhance your flying experience and a superb record of exactly what happened on the day of your flight. By completing the entries in this
book, the RPAS pilot will have completed all the necessary requirements of the CARs.
