An Introduction to DJI Enterprise Solutions

As an industry leader in providing access to the most robust and sophisticated aerial imaging technologies to the mass market, DJI has taken full advantage of their capabilities to produce the most advanced, user-friendly, and compact technologies, making them available for specialty use in the enterprise market.

There are several aircraft in DJI’s enterprise lineup, each with their own unique advantages specifically designed for users in different industries to help them perform outstanding work.

Below is a quick overview of DJI’s latest enterprise offerings:

Mavic 3 Enterprise Series

Mavic 3 Enterprise Series is DJI’s latest ultra-compact enterprise drone that has just as much capability as it does portability. M3T has 3 camera sensors; wide, zoom, and thermal, M3E has 2 camera sensors; wide and zoom, and M3M has 2 cameras; RGB, and Multispectral with a combined 5 sensor array. All aircraft feature similar flight times, up to 45 minutes and up to 15km transmission range.

What About Real-World Usage?

Of course, on-paper specifications must be complemented with real-world usage to mean anything. Let’s see what all these numbers mean when actually flying.

Takeoff Weight

Having a higher takeoff weight generally means the aircraft has more wind-resistance and payload capacity, though there are some trade-offs to consider as well. For instance, the M300 RTK has the highest takeoff weight of all the drones listed above, however, it is also the bulkiest aircraft to have to transport. For industries such as firefighting where time and space are of the essence, a smaller, equally capable drone with thermal capabilities such as the Matrice 30T is a worthy contender when deciding which drone to purchase.

Built-in Payload

Smaller drones like the Mavic 3 Enterprise series and Matrice 30 series have built-in multi-functional payloads which is perfect for single-type applications which rarely change. For industries that require different payload capabilities at different times, an M300 RTK with a removable payload may be the right choice. As an example, in industries such as construction surveying, you may want a payload best suited for photogrammetry like the Zenmuse P1 and a payload best suited for LiDAR mapping such as the Zenmuse L1 at different times. In some cases, you may want them simultaneously, in which case a dual-downward gimbal mount can be affixed to the drone, allowing for 2 different payloads to be used at once.

Available Payloads

Since the M300 RTK is the only aircraft that allows for removable payloads, it is the only aircraft compatible with the payloads listed below. Listed below are some of the most common payloads used with M300 RTK:

Zenmuse H20 and H20T

Integrated wide, zoom, and laser rangefinder in one payload. H20T adds a thermal sensor to the array. With Zenmuse H20 series, you can see the big picture with the wide lens, get up close with the zoom lens, and see the unseen with the thermal sensor (H20T/H20N only).

Zenmuse H20N

Integrated wide, zoom, and laser rangefinder in one payload, like the H20 and H20T, H20N features dual thermal sensors and starlight sensors in the wide and zoom cameras, allowing for unmatched night and low light performance.

Zenmuse L1

Combines a 20MP 1-inch RBG camera with mechanical shutter and a Livox LiDAR module, capable of capturing incredibly detailed 3D mapping data which can be processed with DJI Terra to produce highly accurate 3D models.

Zenmuse P1

The Zenmuse P1 integrates a full-frame sensor with interchangeable fixed-focus lenses on a 3-axis stabilized gimbal. Designed for photogrammetry flight missions, it takes efficiency and accuracy to a whole new level.

There's Even More to See...

These aren’t the only payloads compatible with M300 RTK. Additionally, Payload SDK allows for supported third-party payloads, allowing for even more flexibility in whichever application you are taking on.

Ingress Protection Rating

Ingress Protection or IP ratings are a guide to the solid and liquid protections of your device. The first number represents the solid and the second represents the liquid. The only DJI Enterprise aircraft that have a rating are the Matrice 30 Series and the M300 RTK. The Mavic 3 Enterprise Series is not rated from DJI, which means it is more susceptible to water/dust damage if exposed to either, even for a short time. The Matrice 30 and M300 RTK have equal liquid resistance, however, the Matrice 30 has improved solid resistance with dust resistance. The M300 RTK has resistance to solids greater that 1mm in diameter, which encompasses many tiny objects, but is still not as protected as the Matrice 30 Series. Having an IP rating adds extra assurance that your aircraft is protected so you can focus on the mission at hand.

*IP ratings differ between M300 RTK payloads. Please be sure you are aware of the specific IP rating of the payload you are using prior to your flight.

Which DJI Enterprise Drone is Right for You?

Taking into consideration all the specifications and their significance, let’s see exactly which DJI Enterprise drone is the most suitable choice for your unique needs. Outlined below are some recommended usage scenarios from key industries to give you get a better idea of what DJI Enterprise drones are capable of delivering.

With this amazing feature set, Matrice 30T is the perfect compact and quick-deployment drone for firefighters and rescuers to help them get their job done quickly, effectively, and safely.

Industry: Law Enforcement

Recommended Aircraft: M300 RTK + Zenmuse H20T / Zenmuse H20N

Reason:

M300 RTK provides the most amount of versatility of any DJI Enterprise aircraft. With the ability to connect different payloads, each with their own unique advantages, such as the H20T with thermal capabilities or even the H20N with exceptional low-light performance, M300 RTK is prepared to take on advanced tasks such as search and rescue, accident reconstruction, suspect tracking, and more.

Industry: Research and Education

Recommended Aircraft: M300 RTK + Zenmuse H20T / Zenmuse L1

Reason:

Having the ability to use an aircraft which offers versatility in connecting to different payloads, including ones not manufactured by DJI, the M300 RTK is a perfect fit for educators and researchers. This allows users the ability to test new functions and capabilities of aerial equipment and redefine what is possible with a drone.

Industry: Roof Inspections

Recommended Aircraft: Mavic 3 Thermal

Reason:

Mavic 3 Thermal is the perfect companion for roof inspectors since it is compact and portable, and offers a high resolution wide and zoom camera, paired with a powerful thermal camera. Having both views side by side on the controller allows the user to inspect the roof for physical damage with the main camera and for insulation leaks with the thermal camera – all without the need for large and bulky equipment.

Industry: Construction Surveying and Mapping

Recommended Aircraft: Mavic 3 Enterprise

Reason:

Mavic 3 Enterprise is the perfect companion in achieving high quality imaging used for surveying as it is compact and offers an incredibly powerful camera system. Featuring a 20MP 4/3-inch CMOS sensor paired with a mechanical shutter, Mavic 3 Enterprise is ideal for on-the-go mapping as it captures high resolution images and reduces motion blur, ensuring the image is as clear as possible for post processing. Paired with the optional RTK Module, Mavic 3 Enterprise can also capture images with much more accurate positioning, ensuring that image data is not compromised by less than ideal positioning information provided by GPS alone.

Industry: Agriculture

Recommended Aircraft: Mavic 3 Multispectral + RTK Module

Reason:

Mavic 3 Multispectral features an RGB and multispectral camera, allowing it to gather more detail on the health of crops. With a quad-sensor array for the multispectral camera (green, red, red edge, and near-infrared), Mavic 3 Multispectral is capable of analyzing crop growth with detail simply not available with a traditional RBG camera alone. Combined with the RTK Module, Mavic 3 Multispectral gains even more advanced positioning capabilities, ensuring the data that is produced is as accurate as possible for post-processing.
