DJI Mini 3 Pro is undoubtedly one of the hottest drones this year, and we're going to give you 10 reasons for why that is. Strap in, this is going to be a feature-filled flight!
It's under 250 grams
DJI Mini 3 Pro is what Transport Canada considers a micro drone –– a drone that weighs less than 250 grams. So why is that important? Well, in Canada, drones that weigh 250 grams or more are required to be registered with the government, and the pilot (that's you) requires a license. That's right, if you are flying a drone that's 250 grams or higher, you need a license, kind of like a driver's license. We'll admit, the testing required to get a license can be difficult for those who've never flown a drone before and don't have much knowledge of aviation in general. But by having the DJI Mini 3 Pro weigh less than 250 grams, even complete beginners can get in on the fun!
It's foldable and portable
What makes DJI Mini 3 Pro so desirable by so many users is its ability to fold up in an incredibly compact form factor when not in use. This makes it perfect for traveling. Not only that, if you go exploring, say, on a hike, you can take DJI Mini 3 Pro with you as it adds very little weight to your overall carry-on items. Now, you can show off to your friends all the cool places you went with aerial footage that offers a unique perspective!
It's super quiet
Drones are typically known for being noisy, intrusive, and can draw lots of attention. But not DJI Mini 3 Pro! DJI Mini 3 Pro is super quiet comparatively. Now, we're not going to say that it doesn't make any noise at all, because that would be untrue, but when flying a DJI Mini 3 Pro, you'll notice how incredibly silent it can be when you start flying up, up and away. It's so quiet that you may even forget that you're flying a drone at all. And that's something we think is a huge plus!
It's got up to 47 minute flight time per battery
DJI Mini 3 Pro is compatible with two different types of batteries, the Intelligent Flight Battery for Mini 3 Pro, and the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus for Mini 3 Pro. So what's the difference? Well, Intelligent Flight Battery Plus offers extended flight time of up to 47 minutes per charge whereas the Intelligent Flight Battery offers up to 34 minutes per charge. But hold your horses because there's a catch! (There always seems to be, isn't there?) While the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus offers longer flight time, it pushes the weight of the DJI Mini 3 Pro to above 250 grams. You'll probably remember from earlier that if your drone weighs more than 250 grams, you'll need a license to fly. So before opting for the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, make sure that you've got your license handy as you will definitely need it.
It's got three-way obstacle sensing
All DJI Mini 3 Pros are equipped with a three-way obstacle sensing system. The obstacle sensing system faces forward, rearward, and downward, providing obstacle detecting coverage for the most common directions that your Mini 3 Pro would travel. It's always super important that you keep a close eye while flying as the pilot flying is always ultimately responsible, however you can fly more confidently knowing that DJI Mini 3 Pro is always keeping an eye out for you. And, if you do get into a crash, DJI Care Refresh is always ready to step in to help! You can learn more about DJI Care Refresh here.
It's got QuickTransfer
QuickTransfer is an awesome feature that allows you to connect your phone directly to the DJI Mini 3 Pro for quick offloading of photos and videos without the need for taking out the microSD card or connecting it to a computer via a cable. QuickTransfer utilizes the Wi-Fi direct functionality of the aircraft to maximize transfer speeds so you can spend less time waiting and more time sharing.
It's got 4K/60 video recording
DJI Mini 3 Pro can capture high-resolution 4K video at up to a buttery-smooth 60 frames per second. When playing back video, you'll notice a considerable improvement over standard 30fps video. In addition, the camera is capable at shooting in even higher frame rates with lower resolutions so you can achieve impressive slow-motion footage to show off to your friends! In order to take advantage of the high resolution and frame rate recording options of DJI Mini 3 Pro, you'll need a microSD card that can keep up. We recommend the SanDisk Extreme microSD cards which you can find here.
It's got vertical shooting
While we're on the topic of camera functionality, it's worth pointing out that the DJI Mini 3 Pro has vertical shooting capabilities. Why does this matter? Well, if you love posting your photos and videos on social media, most platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly known as Twitter) are viewed on mobile devices which are used in the portrait (vertical) orientation. By recording your content in vertical, you will not only produce content in the preferred orientation for these platforms, you will also not lose resolution by recording your video in landscape (horizontal) and cropping it later. By recording your video horizontally to be cropped for vertical viewing, you'll not only lose out on lots of screen real-estate, you'll lose out on lots of resolution, making your videos blurry. Shooting your videos vertically captures and retains the highest level of detail for sharing on social media later on.
It's got intelligent flight modes
DJI Mini 3 Pro comes standard with a suite of intelligent flight modes which takes the hard work out of shooting. Using modes such as MasterShots, FocusTrack, Hyperlapse, and more, DJI Mini 3 Pro will do all the heavy lifting for you. For instance, with MasterShots, all you need to do is select your subject, and DJI Mini 3 Pro will execute a sequence of maneuvers which will then be used to produce a short cinematic video for you afterwards. And other features such as FocusTrack will keep your subject in the frame without any pilot input, perfect for following a car, boat, cyclist, and more!
It's compatible with DJI RC
DJI RC is a true game changer for the DJI Mini 3 Pro. With its all-integrated compact design, 5.5-inch full HD display, capable of up to 700-nit max brightness, and up to 4 hour battery life on a single charge, it's no wonder why DJI RC is the preferred control interface for DJI Mini 3 Pro. Gone are the days of connecting your phone to an external controller, being interrupted by phone calls and messages, and having to worry about poor brightness from your phone when flying in direct sunlight. DJI RC tackles all of these shortcomings and more, and leaves you wanting even more!
Bonus Feature: It's compatible with DJI Goggles 2
Okay, this one is pretty cool so we couldn't leave it off the list. Recently, DJI added DJI Goggles 2 and DJI Goggles Integra support to the DJI Mini 3 Pro. Combined with the DJI RC Motion 2, this turns the DJI Mini 3 Pro into an FPV drone! Now, you can experience full immersion in flight when you fly FPV style, giving you the illusion that you're inside the flight deck!
With all these cool features and more, it's no wonder why DJI Mini 3 Pro is the hottest drone this year! If you're ready to step into the pilot's seat, we're ready to help you get there!
